I absolutely love how many dog crazy couples I get since I started offering my Autumn/Winter dog shoots! People stumble those shots, see how much I love dogs and know that they’re getting a huge dog lover in their wedding photographer which I never anticipated happening, but I’m so glad it does! Since adding my dog shoots page to my website I’ve booked SO many couples who want to involve their dog(s) in their big day! Jo & James were one such couple! We hadn’t actually met before the wedding but we had Skyped and I think I had our dog Jackson on my knee at the time! Having their pups Maya and Polly involved in their day was super important to them.

Jo & James’s wedding was so chilled out. They got ready together in the morning at their house surrounded by family & friends (& dogs!) and both the ceremony and reception took place at Sawley Village Hall near Ripon. A vintage bus took everyone between the two and the hall was decorated with hay bales, colourful lanterns and bunting. Nomad Catering provided amazing canapés in the afternoon and fish & chips in the evening. Scroll down to keep reading…!

I honestly couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome by these guys. Jo is just an absolute sweetheart and was a dream of a bride. The review she left me is one of my all time favourites…

“Laura photographed our wedding a couple of weeks ago, we chose Laura because of her relaxed approach and mostly because she loves dogs!
Laura was there when we needed to speak to her during wedding prep, she always responded quickly and was really flexible when we decided to add an extra hour to facilitate more dog photos! On the day Laura was AWESOME, she was there when I was getting ready and didn’t miss a thing. At the village hall she even disposed of my prawn tail when I couldn’t find anywhere to put it!
We wanted the documentary style photographs we had seen on her website but on the day we elected to do a couple of quick group shots too to capture family we don’t see very often. Laura was happy to roll with this. The results are way beyond what we expected. First photo she sent us looked like it could have been in a magazine! When the slide show arrived we sat in Italy overlooking the coast laughing and crying at the wonderful images we saw. We’ve watched it so many times that the song goes round and round in my head when I run!!!! We got the final edits last week and we really couldn’t be happier she’s truly captured the fun love, laughter and relaxed atmosphere of the day. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Laura for weddings and dog shots. We’d love to work with her again! We’d give her six stars if we could! Thank you Laura xxx”

So basically if you’re planning on involving prawns in your wedding, I’m a good person to have around 😂

Alternative Ceremonies UK conducted the wedding which involved passing the rings around all of the guests and a hand fasting with lots of colourful ribbons, and of course a doggy ring bearer! Afterwards we nipped outside to grab a few portraits on the vintage bus which had kindly stuck around for us to make use of. There was face painting, live music all day and an incredible vintage swing band playing into the evening! During the band’s break, Jo & James did their first dance to N-Trance’s Set You Free!

Amazing fun was clearly had by all, including me, and these two deserve all the happiness in the world!
